Eight bridges connect the San Francisco Bay, so it is an apt name for a gallery platform that brings the Bay Area art world together.

Our mission is to maintain a vibrant gallery scene, despite restrictions on travel, celebrations and other larger gatherings. We want to support our artists by informing and entertaining curators, collectors and critics with potent online exhibitions of their work.

On the first Thursday of every month, we will launch 8 shows of artists relevant to the Bay Area. They may be working in this place, long considered an epicenter of change, or deeply engaged in the conversations the Bay Area holds dear, whether it’s related to technology, the environment, social justice or sexual identity, to name a few. In addition, each month will highlight the crucial work of a Bay Area non-profit arts organization.

Chinese Culture of San Francisco – Shanghai Queer Screening + Q&A with Filmmakers

June 18, 2021 @ 6:00 pm PDT - 7:30 pm PDT

In celebration of Pride Month, CCC presents “Shanghai Queer” screening and Q&A with director Xiangqi Chen 陳想起, Screenwriter Jiamin Hu 胡嘉敏, and producer Ann, Yu 安魚.

”Shanghai Queer“ is a first-of-its-kind documentary film about LGBTQ’s pursuit of equality and freedom in Shanghai, China. The documentary tells the collective memories of the development of Shanghai’s LGBTQ community over the past 15 years (2003-2018), presenting and focusing on the mission, growth, and thoughts of NGOs, activists, scholars, and artists in the gender equality movement under the change of urban spaces.

“Shanghai Queer: Screening + Q&A with Filmmakers” is a programming of “WOMEN我們: From Her to Here,” an exhibition at the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco exploring local and universal experiences of queer belonging and agency.

Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco is a non-profit organization established in 1965. CCC elevates underserved communities and gives voice to equality through education and contemporary art. Rooted in San Francisco’s Chinatown, CCC is a loud and creative voice to uplift social and economical transformation. We provide a safe environment for artists who champion activism, resiliency, and healthy communities. In doing so, we shift dominant narratives, empower change, and reimagine our futures.
