Eight bridges connect the San Francisco Bay, so it is an apt name for a gallery platform that brings the Bay Area art world together.

Our mission is to maintain a vibrant gallery scene, despite restrictions on travel, celebrations and other larger gatherings. We want to support our artists by informing and entertaining curators, collectors and critics with potent online exhibitions of their work.

On the first Thursday of every month, we will launch 8 shows of artists relevant to the Bay Area. They may be working in this place, long considered an epicenter of change, or deeply engaged in the conversations the Bay Area holds dear, whether it’s related to technology, the environment, social justice or sexual identity, to name a few. In addition, each month will highlight the crucial work of a Bay Area non-profit arts organization.

California College of the Arts x 8-bridges – Bridging Art + Education: Navigating the Bay Area Art World

May 25, 2021 @ 5:00 pm PDT - 6:00 pm PDT

Each month, 8-bridges highlights the crucial work of a Bay Area nonprofit arts organization. For the month of June, 8-bridges will feature California College of the Arts (CCA). With campuses in San Francisco and Oakland and undergraduate and graduate programs in art, architecture, design and writing, CCA enrolls just under 2,000 students and the Bay Area is home to nearly 9,000 alumni practicing a full spectrum of artistic mediums. Two of our 8-bridges founding members, Jessica Silverman and Chris Perez are among CCA’s esteemed alumni.

On May 25, 2021, Jessica and Chris will sit down with Maria Hemphill of Zlot Buell & Associates, CCA Trustee, to discuss how 8-bridges and CCA’s missions are closely aligned in their support of emerging artists in the Bay Area. Jessica and Chris will talk about their experiences as students at CCA, the importance of art education, as well as the experience of representing and exhibiting CCA alumni and faculty in their galleries. Jessica Silverman Gallery and Ratio 3 both have upcoming shows featuring CCA alumni. Special thanks to Sophia Kinell of Phillips for helping to build the partnership between 8-bridges and CCA.

RSVP by May 20 to csalcido@cca.edu or 415.250.7938
